About

Duo A&U is a group of two musicians born in Korea, the violinist Kim Miyoung and the classic guitarist Kim Jeongyeol. They have been working together since 2010 endeavoring to achieve their aim, <Art> & < Union>. They give recitals, are often invited to participate in lecture concerts of architecture and art, or various house concerts to go closely to the audience. Playing for the people of back countries, where the opportunity to hear the classical music is rare, is also where two musicians are interested in.

They devote themselves to find out the profound interpretation specially in the baroque music, in which both have great fondness and also to the careful arrangement. Since there are not many pieces originally written for violin and guitar, this team is constructing their own and unique world by playing various repertories of age and genre using the pieces arranged by the guitarist, Kim Jeongyeol. They released their first album through Sony Classic in April 2013 and has got favorable reputation as the duo with <Harmony and Contrast>, and the second one in November 2018  with wider repertoires, where they show their gained maturity.

Besides the diverse activities in Korea, they are participating in international performances as they performed in Japan in 2015, 2019, in the Netherlands in 2016, 2017, and in Germany in 2017.

Furthermore, Duo A&U has been holding the project called <Decoding BACH> series since 2015, where the 6 unaccompanied sonatas and partitas for violin solo and lute are performed one after another. At the same stage, they perform also newly created pieces written specially for them, for they consider as a duty to play the pieces of the contemporary composers. Since April 2019, Duo A&U has been projecting in YouTube the videos filmed by a qualfied film director.
